Caroline and Alex.
Just thinking about these two makes me smile.
Caroline and Alex were married back in September at Keswick Vineyards in Charlottesville. Keswick is a beautiful place for a wedding, and their staff was helpful and organized, ensuring the day ran very smoothly. The expansive vineyards and mountain backdrop are both gorgeous, and the house…. WOW. Also, they have a deep turquoise pool that reflects everything… I’m gonna just go ahead and say it: discount for the next couple who books me for Keswick and will agree to jumping in that pool for some cool splashy underwater shots after their wedding. Seriously, it would be awesome, right? (Update: it turns out that probably no one is allowed in the pool, which is a bummer, but I would still LOVE to shoot at Keswick again!)
Oh – one more thing about this photo set. Not too far into this post, you will see a photo of Caroline and Alex holding hands through a doorway. Caroline, in her usual charming manner, titled it a “touchy-no-looky” moment. I’ve never had a couple do this before. This was their alternative to a first look, and I have to say, it was one of the most emotionally charged wedding moments I’ve encountered. They were able to feel each other’s presence, talk a bit, and be comforted by that little touch, but having to keep from looking at each other created this amazing sense of anticipation.
Sometimes when photographers write about how in love all their couples are and how perfect every wedding is, the words start to sound flat and trite. Honestly, all my couples are in love, and all my weddings are wonderful. But I will say this: when it was time to part ways after the touching moment and head to the ceremony, Alex wouldn’t let go of his bride’s hand. He just kept holding on, and holding on, and holding on. These two are truly special.
Special thanks to Jennifer Scruggs for second shooting with me at this wedding! If you’re looking for a photographer in the PA area, I highly recommend her.
