Welcome back to the blog and to part 2 of Katherine and Brandon’s stunning October wedding at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, near Charlottesville. This post features their reception.
Amanda Gray of Ashley Baber Weddings helped Katherine and Brandon style this reception beautifully. They used locally-foraged, native greenery and florals from Nature Composed. I especially loved the garlands on the King Family Vineyards chandeliers. The deep green leaves and otherwise very simple floral arrangements were a perfect accent to the sparkling gold dresses and decor.
For tableware, they used mismatched plates and flatware from Tracey Love of Hill and Holler, a farm-to-table service that also supports local agricultural and food organizations. I saw china printed with everything from state’s mottos to fire department information. They were all unique, colorful, and added so much personality to the table settings. And the food, from Catering Outfit, was delicious!
A highlight of the evening, which you’ll see below, was when roughly thirty of their friends gathered around with song lyrics and sang an ode to Katherine and Brandon, complete with a rockin’ background track. This group certainly came to party, and the dance party lasted long into the evening with nary a slow song to be heard. At times, it was even difficult for me to slip in for photographs, so crowded was their dance floor. Their DJ, Mark Allen, kept things hopping without a lot of talking or interrupting, just letting the party flow and build up its own momentum. They closed the night with “Downtown,” which I will say was a rousing number, and then raced out for their sparkler exit.
And believe it or not, I didn’t tell them to kiss for their last photo. They just did it on their own.
