King Family Vineyard Wedding, part 1

Katherine and Brandon were my last wedding clients of 2015, and what a wedding theirs was.  It was elegant and glamorous, but without a touch of stuffiness.  We were blessed with perfect golden light, an unseasonably warm day, a schedule that actually ran on time (if not faster!), and — it must be said — probably the most fashionable wedding party I’ve ever seen.

It’s nice when I feel like I truly connect with clients on an artistic level, and the longer I shoot, the more often this happens.  Katherine has a background in photojournalism and was referred to me by another one of the best brides ever, also named Catherine.  She and Brandon were totally on board with my desire to focus on documentary moments in addition to regular details and portraits.  They made it easy for me to shoot what was happening without worrying about managing every little detail of each photo, and I think the results are pretty, relaxed, and true to what the day really felt like.

It helped that we had a great wedding coordinator making sure the other aspects of the day ran as smoothly as they did.  Amanda Gray of Ashley Baber Weddings in Charlottesville did a beautiful job styling and managing this event.  If you’re looking for a planner in the Charlottesville area or elsewhere in Virginia, give her a call!

In fact, I loved this wedding so much that my website tells me I’ve uploaded too many pixels to this post, and that I’m going to have to cut it back so that you, dear viewer, can load all the images.  So, since I can’t bear to part with many of these photos, I’m splitting this wedding into two.  Part 1: the prep, portraits, and ceremony.  Part 2 later this week: a few more portraits, and the reception in the gorgeous King Family Vineyard hall.

Enjoy, and special thanks to Shannon Maggi for second shooting with me.
