You might remember Heather and Jeremy from their beautiful, rainy wedding last July. I’m pleased to announce that now their family is growing, with a baby boy due any time now! To see highlights from their maternity session, click the photo below.
This is my last post of personal favorites before I get to move on to my clients’ choices. Welcome to the best of engagement photography, 2010!
These photos were taken in a range of places – from Christiansburg, Virginia all the way up to Charlottesville. They are some of my favorite portraits of the year, and I hope you enjoy them.
If you’ve just gotten engaged over the holidays, CONGRATULATIONS! I know you have a long journey of wedding planning ahead of you, but remember: it’s only as stressful as you make it! Choose a date and a venue you love first, and then start looking for someone to capture your memories, beginning with your very own engagement photos. Many wedding photographers include engagements with the wedding package as a sort of get-to-know-you session, so it makes sense to look for your wedding and engagement photographer at the same time. Just be sure to choose a photographer whose style you love and whose personality you enjoy. Pictures should be fun!
When all is said and done, I think I love doing portraits best of all, whether it’s for an engagement, a bridal shoot, or a high school senior.

The beginning of the New Year means many things: resolutions, champagne, huge sales… and for photographers, compiling lists of our favorite shots from the previous year’s shooting season.
This is no easy task, even for those of us who tend to be our own worst critics.
To help (maybe?), I’m breaking my “best of” list into four parts: first and second and third, my choices from each wedding and portrait session of 2010, and last, a clients’ choice list.
Click over to enjoy the selection! (And make sure you go all the way to the end…. I saved my favorite bridal portraits for last!)
About three weeks ago, I traveled down to Bristol to do a fall photo shoot with Luke, a senior from JSB. Luke is super easy to work with – very laid-back, and willing to try anything. He brought his brother and a friend along for his shoot, and we went from his high school down to his home in Mendota. (I was impressed that three teenagers were willing to get up so early on a weekend and move chairs, hold reflectors, etc!)
Here are some highlights from Luke’s shoot. He’s a football player, but I think he might have a future in modeling too. Leave him some love down in the comments – for every 10 comments, he earns a free 8×10″ print!
