Attention high school juniors!  Now is the time to start thinking about your senior pictures.  You can have the regular studio shots that everyone else gets this year, or you can try something different with an on-location portrait shoot with Natalie.  Each session includes time for 3-4 outfits and 2 different locations, so you can try out all your favorite looks.

I know most seniors are online, so I include a disc of all your images for web use.  Email them, use them on your blog, or put them on Facebook as your new profile picture!  They are yours to show off!  Sessions also include a credit for prints at a discounted rate, so you can stock up on wallets.

Act fast… senior portrait sessions begin after school’s out in June, and with wedding season going full-swing, my photography dates fill up quickly!

This December I spent about a week shut in my house, designing albums to use as samples.  I’ve tried several different album vendors and printers, and now I have some awesome products to show off!  First, I want to show the Couture Press Print book, which is a high-end album that presents your wedding as if it were pictured in a fine art coffee table book.  The design is simple – one photo per page – and the result is slick and modern and beautiful.  The books are hand bound, and all options are customizable.

Lots of times I find that brides get their venue first, their dress next, and then their photographer. Obviously there is a lot more that goes into a wedding, so I’d like to start spending some of my blog space showcasing some other local wedding services. Might as well share a little, right?

I had the pleasure of meeting with the lovely Stephanie Hughes of Diamond Events earlier this week. Stephanie is a wedding and event planner and is really earning a strong foothold in the local industry. She graduated from Blacksburg High school and has family in the Roanoke and Smith Mountain Lake areas, so she knows our region really well. I found Stephanie to be so easy to talk to, and she is also very organized and professional. I know her brides love her. If you need a wedding planner, please give her a call! It is so nice to you know have a professional helping you with all the little details of your wedding day so that you can relax and enjoy it.

You can contact Diamond Events at 877-558-8143, or head to their website at www.weddingsbyde.com.

That’s it for now. I have a short party assignment tomorrow night for a graduate conference, so maybe I’ll have some new shots to show off from that soon, as well as some of Nicole’s dramatic stage portraits.

Brrrrrrr!!!!  It is so cold outside!

I just wanted to update you all on some things I have coming up soon.  I haven’t been posting much on this site lately, but I’ve been staying very busy in other ways.  I’ve put together 5 new sample albums to show off, including two eco-friendly album options!   I’m also working on some new promotional materials for brides and portrait clients.  I can’t wait until it all arrives so I can post some photos for you to see!

Brides, I want to make sure you know that if my normal wedding package doesn’t work for you, please contact me about getting a customized quote.  I’ve moved away from straight packages this year because I find them kind of exhausting to figure out, but I definitely am able to customize a package for you if it suits your needs better – just ask!  Or, if you’re like me and get tired of reading package options, go with the basic option of all day photography, a DVD of files, and engagement pictures for $2000.  (The basic option also includes a $100 print credit, so you can show off your images right away!)

The basic option is not cheap, I know – but having all day photography is a major plus.  Most weddings last at least 8 hours anyway if there is dinner and dancing, and rushing through things in order to get pictures by the photographer’s deadline isn’t fun.  When you don’t have to worry about my hours, you can relax on your wedding day and enjoy things as they happen.  No fake exits, rushed dances, or posed toasts!   It’s your day… I just want to document the whole story as it naturally unfolds.

I’m full for June and likely October, and I promised my husband I wouldn’t shoot any weddings in July, so if you are planning a wedding in another month, get in touch as soon as possible!

Portrait people, I haven’t forgotten about you!  I’m hoping to start doing some senior pictures in 2010, along with more headshots.  I’ve just received a whole bunch of awesome lighting gear to use for these shoots and can’t wait to try it out!

I am changing the way I do print sales in 2010. For one thing, I’m adding a print credit to all packages. This is because I think it is so important for you to have a few favorite photos printed out to view in your home and pass down to family. It’s nice to have the image disc, but computers in 50 years (10 years?) will likely not even use CDs or DVDs, and you need a hard copy of your favorite shots to share them with others. It’s way more fun to hold the photo in your hand or in a book, anyway!

While all clients will get at least a small print credit with their package in 2010, the a la carte print prices will be changing. These changes will go into effect January 1, 2010, so if you want to order prints under the old prices, do it soon!
