... and one big belly.

Yep.

For those of you who do not know yet, my husband and I are expecting our first baby in April.

This is huge news for anyone, but it's a particular blessing for us. We had been trying unsuccessfully to start a family for a quite a while. I actually started this business as a way to get my mind off having a baby. If you've ever been through this you know exactly how frustrating it can be, so I don't think I need to say much else on the subject, except that this July, I finally gave up and decided to plan a trip to England next summer instead. Needless to say, we are NOT going to England.

The baby is due April 23. In preparation for the baby, I have booked a photographer and made plans for some custom artwork. And that's about it! Your intrepid photographer, who has always been super type-A about being prepared and organized for these types of things, has not actually read any baby books, has not made plans to redecorate the "nursery," has not loaded up on cloth diapers, has not done much of anything, really - other than daydream about playing ukulele for a little infant. There are going to be some MAJOR changes in said photographer's lifestyle.

Anyway, I am excited, and currently too busy to be nervous, and it turns out it's really hard to keep up a photography blog and be pregnant at the same time. (I keep falling asleep!) So, please accept this as my personal apology/excuse for the lack of updates this fall. Obviously, my business model will be changing quite a bit. I'm in the process of figuring out my prices and solidifying a product line for 2011, and I'll be focusing more on portraits than weddings for a while. This winter I'm hoping to totally revamp this blog and add two specialized portfolio sites as well. I might even do a bridal fair.

If you're interested in booking a wedding or portrait for 2011, please do go ahead and email me. I will be on maternity leave late this spring, but I'd still like to hear from you, and I can certainly recommend some great photographers if I can't make your date this time!

I've been looking for a camera bag for months, and I do mean months.Everything I've seen has either been too small, too large, too boxy, too sporty, too fancy, or too girly. Or, it's everything I want but lacks a messenger-style strap. It's been a trial, to say the least. Good camera bags are NOT cheap, and I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars (yes, really - they cost that much!) for a bag I don't absolutely LOVE.

So, I gave up and started looking for a custom bag designer - someone who could construct EXACTLY what I wanted in function, while still making sure the form looked cool, too. I wanted something large, sturdy, and modern, that could make carrying 20-30 pounds of equipment (maybe more?) as comfortable and
