April may be the cruellest month…

… but May is by far the busiest.

I just wanted to apologize for the lack of new content lately here on the old photo blog.  It’s because I’ve actually been really busy TAKING photos, and then busy processing them… the blog tends to be my last step, unfortunately!  Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick update so you’d know that I haven’t forgotten about you, and that there are plenty more photos to come.  I have three bridal sessions and an engagement session this week, and I have a new engagement session, a family session, and two portraits still to post!

May also happens to be a big crunch time for middle school bands.  This month we have 2 big concerts, awards, and a trip to Carowinds, along with many extra rehearsals and auditions for next year’s class of 6th graders.  So, it might be a little while before I can share my new work (maybe Sunday?).

I guess no post is really complete without a photo, so here’s a sneak peek from last weekend’s engagement session at the Harvey’s farm in Radford.

Blacksburg, Virginia – English Conference Party

My  husband is a masters student in the English graduate program at Virginia Tech.  This year, he was put in charge of planning the final dinner/event for their graduate student conference.  He asked me if I would come and take a few photos, and – being a diligent photographer wife – I obliged.  The following shots are from the concluding open mic/reading at Gillie’s, a vegetarian downtown restaurant and favorite of Blacksburg locals.  Click the photo to see more.

Blacksburg Portraits: Nicole, headshots

If you’ve read the “about” section of this website, then you know that I was actually a music and English major in college – not a photography student.  Because I’m sympathetic to performing arts students and all the auditioning they must do after graduation, I offer a discounted headshot package to local college students in music, dance, and theatre arts.

Nicole is a music major.  She’s a soprano at Virginia Tech and soon will have degrees in BOTH music performance and music education.  She’s been my Facebook friend for a few months, but we finally got to meet up on Saturday for her photos and she was just as much fun as I expected!  We traipsed around downtown Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech campus for her headshots  Click the photo to see my favorites.

John and Pam’s October Wedding at Claytor Lake State Park: Sneak Peek!

John and Pam got hitched yesterday at Claytor Lake State Park.  Their wedding was beautiful, despite the unseasonably cold weather.  It’ll take me a while to get through the rest of the pictures, but here are a few sneak previews from their wedding day portraits, with candid shots from the rest of the day coming later this week!
