Engagement portraits are included in my wedding packages for four main reasons:

1. They are fun, and a great way for us to get to know each other.

2.  They are great practice for your wedding portraits.  We spend about 2 hours together for engagement portraits, but often only have 15-20 minutes together on the wedding day.  Practice helps us get the shots you want quickly and efficiently.

3.  They help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.  Believe it or not, it’s hard to gaze romantically at each other in front of a giant 85mm lens.  Having some experience really does help.

4.  They give you a selection of photos of the two of you in a relaxed environment, in normal clothes, doing whatever it is you love to do together.   You can include your dogs, your bikes, your books, your ipods… the options are endless!

I have found that most couples don’t have a lot of really beautiful photos of the two of them together.  Having a collection of engagement pictures is something couples treasure long after the wedding.
