Natalie Gibbs Photography – Christiansburg, Virginia
Q.  How would you describe your style?
A.  I aim for unobtrusive, photojournalistic coverage of wedding events, but  I also pose
formal group photos and portraits as needed.  I strive to keep a  candid feel to even my
posed shots.  My focus is on emotional (or funny!) moments in addition to the standard
wedding shots.  I also really love shooting details.
Q.  What is your training?
A.  Like many photographers, I am mostly self-taught.  I am a member of the Professional
Photographers of America a few online photography forums where I learn from other
members, but most of what I do I’ve learned from hours of practice, thosuands of photos,
and a lot of studying.  In my first year of business, I shot 10 weddings and well over 20
portrait sessions.
Q.  Do you have insurance, business license, etc?
A.  Yes!  Natalie Gibbs Photography is a registered, tax paying business.  I have equipment and
liability insurance through my membership with the Professional Photographers of America.
Q.  What equipment do you use?
A.  I am currently a Nikon shooter, although I am considering switching over to Canon in
2010.  I bring at least two camera bodies, a wide selection of lenses, flashes, lighting gear,
and back-up equipment to every job.  Presently, I do not shoot film.
Q.  Are your photos edited?
A.  Yes.  All my photos are edited.  That’s what gives them “pop.”  I do not like the look of unedited
photos, so you won’t see them on your disc.  I always shoot in RAW format and use a combination
of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to finish the files.  I do additional retouching on any prints
you order, as well.  I try to keep my processing bright and colorful, but natural looking.  I’m not
into heavy texturing, tinting, or unusual special effects.  I want your photos to look timeless.
Q.  So, we get a disc?  Can we print from it?
A.  All my regular weddings include a high-resolution photo disc of all edited images.
With it, you’ll receive a special license to print and use the files online.  You may not
copy the files or disc for others or use the photos for non-personal uses, however.
Q.  How long will it take to get our photos?
A.  The maxium time is six weeks.  I try to get them done earlier whenever possible, and I always
post a few of my favorites to my website in the days following your event, so you’ll have a few
select photos ready to view when you return from your honeymoon.
Q.  Do you work with an assistant?
A.  I hire assistants and second shooters as needed, but most of the time I shoot alone.  If you’d
really like a second photographer, let me know and we can add one into your package.
Q.  What if disaster strikes and you can’t make it to our wedding?
A.  I stay in contact with several local photographers who could help out in a crunch.  In the
unusual event that I couldn’t make it and no one else could either, you’d get a full refund.  All
these details are in the wedding contract.
