What do you do when it’s raining, it’s pouring, and you’d really rather be snoring but there are two small children at your house and so you have to get up and do something even though you’re exhausted and tired of playing trains and helping with iPad malfunctions and you’ve already been to the library and to Target but there are 30 minutes to kill before dinner?
You grab some boots and your camera and do a little neighborhood puddle session.
We had so much fun with this shoot, at least until James fell belly-down into the biggest puddle and scraped up his knees. There were tears, but he was quickly distracted by the splish-splosh sounds his feet made on the way back to the house. I didn’t think I could possible love Caroline’s pink floral dress any more, but then she paired it with geometric leggings and ladybug boots. It’s becoming harder to find dresses that are pretty enough for my tastes but that also suit her personality. I think this one’s a winner.
Here’s to rainy days at home with happy, muddy kids.
Look for more Neighborhood Sessions coming this summer! I’m offering them as an alternative to meet-in-the-park minis that are a little bit more authentic and documentary in nature. And as you can see, they’re even fun on wet days.
